Each of us – Philippe Lathrop and Julie Helmers – is not only a highly experienced and knowledgeable financial advisor. Over the years, we’ve honed a “hands-on, hands-held” approach in which frequent contact with clients (both spouses, whenever possible) has resulted in friendly and familial relationships. In addition, our ability to focus attentively on a client when their life is in motion has led to a growing, referred clientele – women and men recently widowed, divorced, changing jobs, and retired, along with members of their extended families.

At Lathrop Helmers Wealth Management, clients come to us for many reasons – at different stages of their lives. With no two clients alike, it’s imperative that we spend time with each client. On a given day, we may help women re-establish credit, assist couples in their second marriages with investment aspects of pre-nuptial agreements, explain Social Security and Medicare benefits, and examine the need for wills, powers of attorneys, and other documents.
Over the years, we’ve even recommended trustworthy physicians and babysitters. We’re ready to help – clients deserve nothing less.

At Lathrop Helmers Wealth Management, we’ve always operated under the premise that superior wealth management extends far beyond wise investing. For each client to truly achieve his or her financial goals (professionally and personally), we scrutinize distinct aspects of their financial picture. By optimizing key areas, we can help solidify a client’s wealth and brighten their outlook.
As proactive financial advisors, we look for ways to mitigate tax consequences in the short- and long term, efficiently transfer wealth to the next generation (with gifting and other estate planning strategies), improve liability management, and offer life transition planning – as part of each client’s overall strategy. We also believe it’s incumbent on us to introduce new opportunities that can benefit clients and alternative scenarios that can help minimize risk.
With many clients in the midst of life-changing events or simply having busy schedules, we can help manage and streamline the efforts of their trusted advisors. To align strategies, we may coordinate with clients’ CPAs and attorneys. And to make sure “everyone is on the same page,” we often host meetings in our office – in some cases “prepping” an attorney to save clients the time and cost of doing so. We also provide clients with access to Bank of America, N.A. for residential and securities-based lending.
When it comes to investing, we combine our decades of rigorous investment training with BofA Global Research. Our goal is to achieve what we call “inflation-plus” returns for clients, with minimal tax implications. We remind clients that diversification among asset classes and remaining disciplined in following an investment strategy are both hallmarks of achieving positive, long-term outcomes.
