Chad is celebrating his 21st year with Merrill Lynch Wealth Management and relationships with loyal clients that have lasted just as long. In fact, Chad now serves multiple generations of clients’ families – grandparents, parents and grown children in the Tucson area, throughout Arizona and more than 20 other states.
For Chad, it’s gratifying to know clients who’ve been diligent in their careers and devoted to people they love. Many are active and retired business owners, corporate executives and physicians who’ve been referred to Chad when they’re in transition – recently retired, with a new job or new “empty nester” status.
With a rewarding retirement the most common goal of his clientele, Chad listens closely to what clients say (and may not say) about their comfort with investing, their greatest concerns and most cherished dreams. To formulate a personalized and integrated strategy for each client, he works to determine how much risk each client can handle financially and emotionally – to achieve their objectives.
Having seen two significant market dips (or “blips” as he prefers to say) followed by strong rebounds, Chad suggests to clients that they stay invested and diversified across asset classes and sectors. Using Merrill strategies and research, Chad customizes each client’s portfolio based on their risk tolerance, liquidity needs, timeline and other factors.
Chad holds the Certified Investment Management Analyst®, (CIMA®) certification, administered by the Investments & Wealth Institute™ (The Institute).
Beyond investing, Chad aligns his strategies with those of clients’ other advisors – their CPAs and attorneys – to help optimize tax minimization and estate planning strategies.
“On a given day, I help clients with longevity issues – Social Security, long-term care, and how to plan for rising health care costs. We also discuss tax-efficient wealth transfer strategies and buying second homes. By traveling to see clients, I encourage their financial discipline in following the strategy we’ve agreed upon. Working with both spouses is critical. I want to clearly appreciate what holds meaning for each of them,” Chad explains.
Chad grew up in Phoenix and showed an early interest in financial endeavors. Purchasing baseball cards and profiting from their sale, Chad later attended and graduated from Arizona State where his interest turned to investments and reading books by Warren Buffet and others. Immediately after graduation, Chad joined Merrill Lynch Wealth Management. Today, Chad lives in Tucson with his wife, Lindsay, and their daughter and son. In addition to family time, Chad enjoys hiking and being the resident handyman.
