Grew roots in Silicon Valley as a technology entrepreneur, consultant and investor, Gloria leads a practice attracting a mostly referred clientele of well-educated individuals in California and along the two coasts – engineers, executives, business owners, investors, and others whose financial ambitions inspire her hands-on, planning-based approach.  

“My clients want to understand their financial story and chapters not yet written,” Gloria says. “What’s the potential of their wealth? How can I help them be proactive, to avoid a reactive mode? They might have their first home, but don’t know what’s ahead. They recognize that wealth brings comfort and the ability to do good things for the people they love and the causes they support. They are seeking ways to optimally achieve their goal.”

Whether she speaks to clients in English, Mandarin or Cantonese, Gloria’s familiarity with various cultures and customs allows her to avoid industry jargon and provide easily understood explanations. Examining a client’s path toward achieving a meaningful goal, she analyzes their liquid assets, fixed assets, retirement savings, cash flow, tax implications, liabilities, medical plans and trust documents before offering alternate, real-world scenarios on how to proceed.

For our practice, a comprehensive financial strategy done right means a client won’t have a financial emergency later on. That’s because we account for a myriad of factors and show clients how their ability to follow a thoughtfully designed strategy is vitally important to its success.

When it comes to investments, Gloria takes cues from each client’s appetite for risk, liquidity needs, investment timeline and personal aspirations. “I act as a ‘professional shopper’ for the appropriate financial solutions that are a best fit for each client. Some hold appreciated concentrated stock, so we discuss the value of diversification, tax awareness and leveraging those positions to create liquidity and cash flow,” Gloria points out. “I understand how my clients work, their companies, benefit structures and more.”

Gloria joined Merrill to bring clients access to a more expansive suite of services. Today, in addition to offering wealth management strategies, her practice also collaborates with specialists at Bank of America for residential, securities-based, commercial and custom lending to identify innovative liquidity and financing methods. We also align our investment and lending efforts with tax minimization and estate planning strategies including coordinating with clients’ CPAs and attorneys.
