Recognizing the need for a diverse clientele to have a reliable and responsive source of financial input and information, Mason has come to serve hardworking individuals and couples who are building wealth, saving for their first home, a child’s education, and, most often, a comfortable retirement lifestyle.

Mason was a three-sport scholar-athlete at Monrovia High School, where as captain, he led the football team to three consecutive CIF championships. Later, he played on the 2015 and 2016 Ivy League Championship football teams at University of Pennsylvania. After graduation, he returned to Southern California and joined Merrill in 2019 – ready to help real people achieve realistic goals – and overcome the financial challenges he witnessed friends and family experience in the past.

“The lessons I learned playing football impact what I do today,” Mason says. “Reflecting upon five total championships (with losses along the way), two key lessons come to mind. The son of a teacher, Mason is especially mindful of educating clients about the value of long-term saving and investing, and staying disciplined in following the strategy they agree upon. He also spends significant time getting to know clients personally – their vision, what makes them feel comfortable, how much they have on their plates, and how he can simplify their financial situations so that they can focus on the people and passions in their lives.

“Whether I serve high networth families or those who work hard to save and sacrifice, it feels good when clients find value in my efforts. If I show them a personal wealth strategy and they get excited about the direction they can take, it’s a tremendous moment for me. I enjoy working hard so clients don’t have to,” Mason explains.

When it comes to investments, Mason can help build personally-tailored portfolios for clients by relying on the firm’s Chief Investment Office portfolios for overall strategic direction, the firm’s research-based equity portfolios, and assistance from senior level colleagues.

Mindful of tax efficiencies and the impact of financial decisions on future generations, Mason also coordinates with clients’ CPAs and attorneys (and his network of trusted advisors) – to employ tax-minimization and estate planning strategies. In addition, he offers access to residential and securities-based lending (typically for refinancing or purchasing investment properties), non-conventional property loans, and custom lending solutions through Bank of America, N.A.

Outside the office, Mason is a member of the Black Professional Group at Bank of America, is co-chair of the events committee for the Penn Club of Los Angeles, and is an active member of the San Gabriel Valley Chapter of the National Football Foundation – helping student-athletes. He also actively participates with his church, Fellowship Monrovia. In the past, Mason has coached football and mentored athletes at Monrovia High School, his alma mater.
