Over the past 12 years, Bob has attracted a growing circle of successful clients whose values and sense of purpose demand an advisor’s ability to satisfy their best interests from a financial and personal perspective.

Rather than serve a large number of clients, Bob believes in doing more for fewer clients and their families. This enables him to work closely, whenever possible, with both spouses and even educate teenage children on wise financial habits. For Bob and for clients, passing along wisdom with wealth is of primary importance.

Notable in Bob’s planning-based approach are the questions he asks clients to gain a genuine appreciation of how he can add value to the relationship, “What’s most important to you – maintaining your lifestyle, building wealth, educating your kids, leaving a legacy? What do you value most? What have you dreamt about? Were these your goals ten years ago? And what changed?”

From clients’ answers and Bob’s analyses of their balance sheet and income/expense statement, he creates a financial strategy with multiple scenarios to highlight possible outcomes and cash flows. His plan might include retirement planning, liability management, asset allocation analysis, stock option analysis, college planning, and more.  Bob finds that only after extensive planning can he deliver an accurate recommendation on how to invest a client’s assets.

Whether serving accomplished executives, entrepreneurs or long-time consultants, Bob focuses on what brings clients fulfillment and joy – achieving philanthropic goals, supporting their communities, or spending long overdue time with the people they love. Bob explains, “Clients’ lives dictate their balance sheets, circumstances and visions. That’s why we talk casually and frequently, to align distinct aspects of their strategies with moving parts in their lives.”

In addition to risk-managed investing – in which Bob relies on the firm’s Research Investment Committee and Chief Investment Office – Bob offers a level of credit and lending service that clients typically expect from a personal banker. Through Bank of America, N.A., Bob gives clients access to residential, securities-based and commercial real estate banking, as well as investment banking and structured credit.

Ultimately, Bob’s goal is to help clients understand the risks they take financially and externally – the kind that can affect their immediate and long-term wealth. Showing clients that “how they own high-quality assets” is critical, Bob works closely with clients’ CPAs and attorneys to align tax minimization and estate planning strategies. He also calls upon specialists to discuss wealth structuring, long-term care, liability and medical insurance.

An 18-year cancer survivor of Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, Bob volunteers for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and co-founded the San Francisco Relay for Life. Bob and his wife, Melissa, live in Walnut Creek with their children, Sarah and Eli. In addition to managing Sarah’s Little League softball team, Bob volunteers at Parkmead Elementary School and is an active parishioner at St. John Vianney Church. Bob earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from the University of San Francisco.

My mission is to understand you and your priorities. To take the time, to ask hard, smart questions and to listen carefully, then to understand, in great detail, exactly where your wealth stands today, and where you'd like it to be tomorrow. I help you design, implement and periodically monitor a customized wealth management strategy that helps you and your family pursue your personal financial goals while managing investment risk. My wealth management approach is about using wealth to help turn goals into reality.

That's why, from the start, we talk about your aspirations and encourage you to ask questions about issues that matter most to you. Worried about managing future health care expenses? I begin every relationship with a conversation, helping you identify and prioritize which goals matter most to you. Whether it's transferring wealth to the next generation, customizing financial strategies to help you pursue your passions, or providing advice and guidance to help you stay informed, I start by listening to learn more about you.

Drawing upon research in the field of behavioral finance, Merrill developed the Investment Personality Assessment to help me get to know you better as an investor and help you refine your investing preferences. By gaining a deeper understanding of how you think and feel about investing, through this assessment I can customize financial strategies together. Using an understanding of your priorities and investment personality as a foundation, I help you access the full breadth of resources from Bank of America’s banking products and services and Merrill’s investment insights to address all aspects of your financial life.

My process is designed to help deliver a customized, consistent experience to assist clients not only in wealth accumulation and preservation, but in areas that go beyond investment management. My ability to provide access to the investment insights of Merrill, as well as banking, trust and fiduciary services from Bank of America offers a way to help clients manage all of the pieces of their financial lives. I view myself as a financial resource, helping clients with strategies for transferring wealth to the younger generation.
