GET TO KNOW: Dallas J. Disbro, CRPC
Financial Advisor, Portfolio Advisor

Dallas joined Merrill in 2014 and has been offering financial advice and personalized guidance to individuals, families, and business owners for over a decade. Whether addressing retirement planning, education funding, liquidity events or wealth transfer, Dallas tailors comprehensive wealth management strategies to his clients’ unique needs and short/mid/long-term goals.

An experienced and passionate advisor, Dallas’s approach to the advisory relationship is client centric - built on trust, transparency, collaboration, and communication; it begins with getting to know a client and the client’s family, financial situation, and what matters most to them. His philosophy is simple: while financial markets will be the same no matter where you go, the difference lies in his unwavering commitment to exceptional service and trust that he fosters in his client-advisor relationships. This philosophy is the foundation by which Dallas helps his clients take control of their future and achieve financial prosperity.

Unbiased in his recommendations and resolute in his dedication to serve their best interests, Dallas guides clients like he would a family member. His circle of clients includes business owners, law partners, physicians, federal employees/contractors, and their families - accomplished clients who wish to accomplish more. For all clients, Dallas can collaborate and coordinate with their CPAs and attorneys while navigating big financial decisions and complex planning needs. In addition, he offers access to Bank of America for residential, securities-based and commercial lending as well as every day banking needs (NMLS ID 1235732). A credentialed advisor, Dallas has earned the Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor, CRPC designation from the College for Financial Planning Institutes Corp and has received the title of Portfolio Advisor by the Merrill Investment Advisory Program (IAP). A Portfolio Advisor, in addition to providing traditional advice and guidance, can help clients pursue their investment objectives by recommending individual, or any combination of, Merrill Lynch Wealth Management or approved third- party investment managers’ strategies, funds or portfolios. He also holds the FINRA Series 7 and Series 66 registrations.

Before joining Merrill, Dallas spent two years (2012-1014) with AXA Advisors, now Equitable Advisors, as a Financial Consultant and company-certified Retirement Benefits Specialist of Tax-Sheltered Annuity Plans. There, he helped District of Columbia Public Schools’ teachers and administration with the implementation and management of their employer-sponsored retirement benefits [403(b) TSA, 457(b) and 401(a) retirement plans] as well as educated them on their employee state pension plan.
Throughout his entire professional career, Dallas has had the privilege to help individuals and families attain financial freedom and then some; however, in his personal time, he is very passionate about helping and giving back to the local spinal cord injury (SCI) and disability community in the Greater Washington DC area. Since 2017, he has been an active board member of the United Spinal Metro DC Chapter and over the last three years, he has served as the acting President of the non-profit organization. Like many of his chapter’s community members, Dallas also suffered a life-changing spinal cord injury when he broke his neck in a diving accident in 2016. Although he now uses a wheelchair for mobility, Dallas knows that he would not be where he is at today if it weren’t for the support system and resources that were and still are available to him which is why he is so passionate about giving back to the local, underserved SCI/disability community.

In 2020, Dallas was honored by the surprise unveiling of The Dallas Disbro Ability Center, a spinal cord injury rehabilitation center at The Sheltering Arms Institute which as of 2023 was ranked Virginia’s #1 rehab hospital by U.S. News & World Report. Today, Dallas speaks biweekly to the hospital’s orientation class of new therapists, nurses and case managers and tells his story and the profound impact their care can have on each and every patient that comes in the hospital. Given his personal experiences and involvement in the disability community, Dallas has incorporated special needs planning into is practice and provides customized financial strategies for those with long term disabilities and families with special needs loved ones.

Before entering the workplace, Dallas graduated with Institute Honors from the Virginia Military Institute (VMI) in 2012 where he double-majored in Economics & Business and Modern Languages (Spanish), minored in Leadership and held a concentration in Financial Management. While at VMI, He was a NCAA Div 1 Athlete his entire cadetship and although he started as a soccer player after being recruited on scholarship in high school, he finished his collegiate career as a springboard diver on the Men’s Swimming and Diving team. Honored as VMI’s Big South Conference Christenberry Award nominee his senior year, Dallas was the Institute’s male student athlete who attained the highest GPA during his undergraduate college career. He was selected to the CCSA Men’s All-Conference and Academic All-Conference teams in 2011 and 2012. In his final season, Dallas broke a 29-year-old school record in the 3-meter Dive and to this day, he holds the college’s 1 and 3-meter Men’s Diving records. In 2010, Dallas studied abroad in Madrid, Spain; this allowed him to get a 2nd Degree in Spanish and this experience inspired his love of travel.

Dallas resides in Washington, D.C. When he is not helping his clients or leading his non-profit organization, he enjoys international travel, live music, grilling on his rooftop, dancing, and watching sports - particularly Michigan Football & Basketball.
