Levan’s longevity in the industry has taught him the value of process, discipline and devotion to the needs and nuances of hardworking clients. Having managed their wealth and emotion amid the volatility of 2000, 2008 and 2020, Levan feels proud that virtually all of those clients – active and retired – remain with him today. He believes that’s due in large part to his ability to help mitigate investment risk, provide enlightened retirement planning, and deliver genuine care and consideration.
“The overwhelming majority of my clients have done the right things with money – and they come to me looking for the right advice to keep on track and prepare for what’s next. Many are transitioning after divorce, the loss of a spouse, job change or receiving an inheritance. Still, most are looking for a rewarding retirement lifestyle. My job is helping clients navigate key financial and personal transitions without emotional decision-making,” Levan says.
In each relationship, Levan considers the broad canvas of clients’ lives. Despite their wealth, some wrestle with the right balance – for enjoying it now, saving for retirement, or creating a family legacy. As a goals-based advisor, Levan helps clients explore their objectives – rather than focus on beating an investment benchmark. Often he asks, “What’s the primary intent of your wealth? What does a rewarding retirement look like? And what role would you like me to play?”
Only after Levan gains a solid understanding of what clients hope to accomplish – and where they stand on the wealth continuum (accumulation, preservation or distribution phase) – does he make a thoughtful presentation in a subsequent meeting of a customized, multi-pronged strategy designed to meet their goals with the minimal level of risk required to do so.
When it comes to investments, Levan leverages Merrill’s award-winning research and looks for cost efficiencies, without sacrificing performance. Reminding clients that the firm’s extensive resources are available by calling him directly (not an 800 number), he offers ready access to Bank of America, N.A. for credit cards, residential lending, securities-based lending and cash management solutions for business owners. In addition, he works in concert with the firm’s trust professionals to provide philanthropic and estate planning services.
Levan launched his career in 1996 at Nation’s Bank (now Bank of America). In 2000, he was promoted to financial advisor and relocated to Atlanta from Charlotte. Levan holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Given the time, Levan plays on several men’s and co-ed softball teams in the Atlanta area. He and his wife, Natasha, have a young son and enjoy traveling to tropical locations.
