Eric’s life journey is a testament to his perseverance and determination. Born and raised in Macon, he struggled to gain weight and make the high school football team. Upon graduation, Eric was recruited as a running back by several major college football schools. Choosing The Citadel, Eric opted for a disciplined lifestyle in which he could play football, receive an excellent education and serve his country.

While attending The Citadel, Eric’s leadership and integrity were recognized and rewarded. He became the very first African-American to command a battalion. As a Cadet Lieutenant Colonel, more than 400 members of the student community reported directly to him.

Following graduation, Eric worked in accounting at Owens-Corning. Later, he began five years of active military service – holding company command positions as a U.S. Army Junior Officer (in what was West Germany). Later, Eric earned a Management Certificate from University of Houston in Diversity Management and became a “trainer of trainers” in Emotional Intelligence and Diversity. Soon after, he was hired as Vice President of Diversity for Inventiv Health in New Jersey.

A lifetime learner, Eric joined Merrill Lynch in 2009 and holds several designations that reflect his commitment to clients and rigorous industry training:
• As a Merrill Lynch Retirement Benefits Consultants (RBC), Eric is one of a select group of highly qualified and credentialed Merrill Lynch advisors who can work with you to shape your investment strategies and create a plan that is designed to drive employee engagement and positive participant behavior. Eric also can help employees connect their life priorities to their finances – allowing them to pursue what matters most to them.
• Eric holds the designation of Certified Plan Fiduciary Advisor (CPFA).
• Eric is a Senior Portfolio Advisor. This allows him to help clients pursue their objectives by managing on a discretionary basis custom investment strategies, selecting from a wide range of Merrill Lynch model portfolios and third-party investment strategies. 

Eric and his wife of more than 25 years (also a Macon native), the former Audrey Reid, have two children. Chrisjanea holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from Fort Valley State, while Eric II, a high school student, is as an Air Force Junior ROTC Cadet with the rank of Cadet Lieutenant Colonel, Deputy Commander. The Mansons are also Taekwondo enthusiasts. Eric is a certified senior instructor and 4th degree black belt. Audrey and Eric II are 1st degree black belts, while Chrisjanea is a 3rd degree black belt. To “relax,” Eric enjoys playing golf, listening to classical and jazz music, reading the Bible and Sun Tzu’s Art of War.

Being generous with his resources and knowledge is essential to Eric’s mission of “paying it forward” in the same way many others have supported him. Eric serves as Vice Chairman of the Macon-Bibb Housing Authority, on the Board of Directors of the Otis Redding Foundation, and as President of Fathers Auxiliary Macon Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc. He is also a member of Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity – the oldest and most successful Greek letter fraternity of African-American men whose mission is modeling leadership, education and civic responsibility by supporting these endeavors and by mentoring young men who will advance the African-American community in all facets of equality, mutual respect and devotion to democratic traditions.

My aunt told me, “Don’t forget where you came from.” I never have.

Since the time I was young, people have invested in me – their time, wisdom and love. Had they not helped me, I would not be able to assist my loyal clientele in ways that go well beyond wise investment management. My clients are good people who care about their families, their communities, and making the most of their hard-earned money.

Who do I serve? Accomplished business owners (many with 401k plans), administrators of corporate retirement plans, sales professionals, owners of family farms, professional athletes and coaches, retired couples, widows and divorcees, generations of families, as well as non-profit organizations.

Clients typically come to me when they’re retired, nearing retirement, or feeling a bit overwhelmed by a major life transition or financial challenge. Many clients aren’t sure if their investments are aligned with their goals. They may require a personal retirement strategy that shows, in simple terms, when they can afford to stop working and the type of retirement lifestyle they can expect. Business owners about to sell their company often benefit from a discussion on succession planning. Other clients may be sending a child to college, or facing multiple issues surrounding a spouse’s declining health. 
 
Perhaps my greatest competence is my patience – asking questions to provoke discussion, listening closely, and making sure I fully appreciate what each client is going through (financially and emotionally). Using my background and knowledge of behavioral finance and emotional intelligence, I help clients gauge their comfort with investing in general, and risk, in particular. 

Understanding the situations and motivations of each client is critical to satisfying their desire for a fulfilling wealth management experience. It would be my privilege to help you in the same manner – with full confidentiality and uncompromised professionalism.

If you’re looking for a different type of advisor, I believe you’ll find my humility and sincerity to be refreshing. I proudly serve clients I’ve known for decades, as well as their children and grandchildren. My ties to their communities are strong, as are my wife’s – the former Audrey Reid. Together, we share a desire to “lift up” people through our professional and personal endeavors.

When it comes to wealth management, I help clients answer three key questions – “What do I want my wealth to accomplish? Will I get there? And what are my financial blind spots?”

Given my background, I use my accounting and business knowledge, investment discipline, and leadership skills to help guide clients toward their most cherished goals, without allowing their impulsive decisions or a missing piece in their financial puzzle to compromise success.

I should add that I’m not here to impress clients. Instead, I want to educate in ways that can prove beneficial – about the investment they own, wise budgeting and borrowing, long-term care and life insurance. I believe that clear, consistent communications are vital to an enduring client-advisor relationship. To help ensure that client needs are met, I can interact with all designated family members. I also provide clients with:

 • “Realistic” goals-based investing, retirement and education planning, liability management, tax-minimization and estate-planning strategies. My efforts are aligned with each client’s experience with wealth, emotional hot buttons, investment timeline, tax situation, and need for liquidity.
 
• Disciplined, researched-based investing in which I help clients understand the market’s neuro-economic, geopolitical and macroeconomic effects on their personal situations. Using Merrill Lynch investment models and third-party investment strategies, I typically craft client portfolios across asset classes.

• Access to specialists from Bank of America, N.A. for residential, commercial, and securities-based lending. I also introduce clients to our trust and insurance specialists, and coordinate with clients’ CPAs and attorneys on tax-minimization and estate-planning strategies. NMLS ID 544958

Finally, I enjoy being the “eyes and ears” for clients – helping them anticipate the effects of inflation, rising interest rates and health care costs, as examples. Doing the right thing for clients comes naturally to me. I treat them as I would members of my own family.
