I am a co-founder and leader of the Baldwin Marcovici Group within Merrill Private Wealth Management. Located in Chicago, my team and I provide tailored strategies designed for building and preserving a family’s wealth. We work with ultra-high-net-worth clients who have distinctive opportunities and complex needs; many are entrepreneurs, business owners, senior executives, and affluent families.

We begin our client relationships by assessing the personal priorities, circumstances, investment personalities, and goals that are unique to each client. We then focus on the client’s income and lifestyle objectives as the anchor of our approach. By focusing on this parameter first, we develop a nimble wealth management strategy that allows a client to pursue his or her goals in varied economic environments. We recognize that wealth management encompasses more than investment management. Our team looks to help clients advance their wealth strategy on multiple fronts: trust and estate planning strategies, customized credit and lending through Bank of America, philanthropy, inter-generational education, and access to family office services. We also work with clients’ external tax and legal advisors, coordinating cohesive action that reflects the priorities and preferences of each client.

I began my wealth management career in 1989 at Merrill. My longevity with the Firm allows me to harness its extensive offerings, bringing the broad capabilities to clients in a manner that is personal, tailored, and immediate. I have a significant network of specialists within the Firm, catering to the exacting needs of Private Wealth Management clients. Within my own team, I oversee the outreach and offerings of the team, with special emphasis on its equity and dividend strategies. My partner, Michael Marcovici, and I have worked together since 1993. Our team prides itself on long-term client relationships that are grounded in personalization, coordination, and extraordinary service.

I am currently an active board member of the Right Angle Foundation and served as President of the Board from 2011-2013. In 2014 I received honors as a finalist for the Invest in Others Community Leadership award for my efforts with the organization.  I was named to the 2015 Financial Times “Top 400 Financial Advisors” list, as published in the March 25, 2015 edition of the Financial Times.

Placing the investor at the center of the wealth management process—while maintaining a market focus — is my goal in helping clients through difficult financial transitions and decisions that occur in their lives. I start by getting to know you, your family and financial situation, helping me understand your risk tolerance, time horizon, liquidity needs, goals, priorities and unique financial concerns. From there, we’ll help you design a customized investment approach, drawing upon the investment insights of Merrill and access to the banking convenience of Bank of America. As your needs or market conditions change, we will meet to track and adjust your approach, as needed.

Drawing upon research in the field of behavioral finance, Merrill developed the Investment Personality Assessment to help me get to know you better as an investor and help you refine your investing preferences. Together, I can help customize your investment approach. Using an understanding of your priorities and investment personality as a foundation, I help you access the full breadth of resources from Bank of America’s banking products and services and Merrill’s investment insights to address all aspects of your financial life.

I view myself as a financial resource, helping clients with potential solutions for transferring wealth to the younger generation.
