Anna is fascinated by the people she serves – an impressive clientele residing in Central Kentucky, Indiana and on both coasts. Diverse in their livelihoods and lifestyles, they include active and retired corporate executives, business owners, physicians, dentists and architects (for whom she also handles their employees’ retirement plans).
Still, Anna most often receives referrals to women who’ve assumed responsibility for their finances as sole earners, after divorce or as widows. Working hard to earn their trust – when trust is hard to come by – Anna examines each client’s emotional risk tolerance and what’s mathematically feasible in terms of achieving their short- and long-term goals. Ultimately, she strives to help clients regain a sense of control and focus on themselves – to see what’s truly possible.
Supported by her three client associates and resources throughout Bank of America, Anna currently assists many clients who followed her to Merrill. She offers customized retirement planning, succession planning, education planning and liability management. Anna also advises clients on managing large concentrations of stock positions, and key transitions including an inheritance and the sale of a business.
“When it comes to investments, I put myself in clients’ shoes, rather than put them into any portfolio. As a “hands-on” and “ears-open” advisor, I need to have a clear idea of a client’s financial picture – and identify areas of strength and weakness. Then I use Merrill’s exceptional research and due diligence to invest intelligently on behalf of each client – with a focus blue-chip companies. My job is helping clients get from Point A to Point B with the least amount of risk necessary,” Anna explains.
Anna not only speaks the language of many clients (English, Russian, Ukrainian and French), she also speaks “legal-ese” – allowing her to work effectively with clients’ attorneys on issues of divorce and estate planning strategies (given her training as a paralegal). In addition, Anna coordinates with clients’ CPAs to align tax minimization strategies.
Given her banking background, Anna also finds it natural to focus on both sides of clients’ balance sheets – assets and liabilities. In fact, her knowledge of the dynamics and process of large banking institutions helps her in providing access to residential, securities-based and other lending solutions from Bank of America, N.A.
Anna grew up in Kiev, Ukraine and graduated from Kiev National Linguistic University before moving to the U.S. and graduating from the University of Louisville. In 2005, she began her 15-year career in banking and investments at US Bank and later assumed roles of increased responsibility at Chase and PNC, including that of private client advisor. Anna moved to Merrill in 2018, to give clients a more comprehensive range of potential strategies and solutions.
Anna resides in Crestwood with her husband of 25 years, Igor, one daughter and two dogs. Their older daughter is completing medical school in Lexington. Anna’s favorite “out-of-the-office” moments are spent cooking, traveling, and watching their younger daughter ice skate.
I follow the deep-seated Merrill tradition of participating in the communities we serve. This drives my interest in spending time volunteering with organizations in our community.
