Matt began his wealth management career in 2013 and has never looked back. Instead, he continues to help ambitious people look forward to meaningful objectives he helps them define through a rigorous and ongoing planning-based approach. Matt’s ultimate goal is to help clients “see around corners” ­– so that likely and unlikely circumstances are factored in to the strategy he builds on their behalf.

 
Taking time to listen, explain and educate, Matt has attracted an expanding circle of referred clients that span generations and the wealth continuum. These successful women and men – both active and retired – include Fortune 500 executives, business owners, physicians and other medical professionals (some with their own practice), and generations of their extended families residing mostly in Kentucky, Indiana and South Florida.

 
From the outset of each relationship, Matt’s questions inspire his best efforts and help clients explore the opportunities of wealth. Frequently, he asks, “Why have you saved this money and what are you planning to do with it?” Often, Matt learns that clients don’t know what’s possible. He says, “My job is helping clients understand what their money can do. Similar to an arcade where you win a bunch of tickets, I explain what their wealth is worth given realistic scenarios, whether they’d like to retire comfortably, leave a legacy, or both.”

 
In addition to helping clients set goals and expectations, Matt looks for holes in their financial picture – especially those that were ignored in a previous advisory relationship. Frequently, he finds that a basic estate planning strategy should be crafted – so that a client’s assets can go to whomever they choose in the most tax-efficient manner. In other cases, he sees that a client’s investments are spread far and wide, with redundant holdings that are vulnerable to market volatility.

 
When it comes to investments, Matt’s strategies are fully dependent on a client’s goals, timeline, liquidity needs and personal preferences. With a strong emphasis on asset allocation, he favors cost-efficient portfolios of ETFs and mutual funds that track various indices – informed by Merrill research and due diligence. Providing simple explanations and rationales, Matt believes that clients should understand what they own and why, allowing them to focus on the people and passions in their lives, not the markets.

 
Beyond investing, Matt is a “first call” for all types of decisions – on topics including Social Security, rising health care costs, wealth transfer issues, long-term care and the need for other forms of insurance.
He also gives clients access to Bank of America, N.A. for residential and securities-based lending, as well as equipment financing and other forms of commercial lending. In addition, Matt coordinates with clients’ CPAs and attorneys to align tax-minimization and estate planning strategies.


A lifetime learner, Matt holds the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) certification from the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards. He earned an MBA from the University of Louisville and Bachelor’s of Business Administration degree in Business Management from Henderson State University.

 
Additionally, Matt is a Senior Portfolio Advisor who can help clients pursue their objectives by managing on a discretionary basis custom investment strategies, selecting from a wide range of Merrill model portfolios and third-party investment strategies.

 
With family first and foremost in his life, Matt resides in Anchorage, Kentucky where most of his free time revolves around his better half, Lindsay, and their two young children. He also enjoys mountain biking, hiking, camping, Jiu Jitsu, and a good game of golf.

I view myself as a financial resource, helping clients with potential solutions for transferring wealth to the younger generation.
