Advisors Steve Prumo and David Kalvar believe in getting close enough to clients to be able to see their lives from the same side of the table. Following a goals-based wealth management process, they can assist you with a customized financial approach that is purposeful, while helping you pursue the retirement lifestyle you envision.

As your financial advisor, we believe we can help you make the financial choices that can impact your life for the better. Drawing on real conversations we have with you, Steve and David can help you formulate a picture of what you want your life to be like in the future. This is not a one and done conversation, rather it is a dynamic process that can involve a series of interactions, and may include educational experiences and workshops that can take place over the course of your life. We strive to develop customized strategies that balance your lifestyle, including near-term family needs such as housing, education funding and financial support for your children, with your vision for retirement.

Clients can be passionate about the activities that make their lives fulfilling, but concerns about health care costs and retirement income needs may hold them back from doing what they enjoy. Women may also have greater concerns than men about longevity, offering financial support to family member, needing long-term care, or becoming a caregiver to a spouse or loved one. Your financial strategy can be designed to take on what we believe to be the least amount of risk that is consistent with your long-term goals and concerns, while not foregoing the daily activities that you enjoy and value.

Investment Process

We believe the investment process is driven by our ability to dig deep into the reasons why you’re investing in the first place. David and Steve can help you prioritize your goals and are committed to designing a customized program to help you pursue each of them. As a Portfolio Manager, Steve can help clients pursue their objectives by managing on a discretionary basis his own Personalized or Defined Strategies, which may incorporate individual stocks and bonds, Merrill model portfolios, and third-party investment strategies.

Prumo, Kalvar and Associates can work with you early on in the wealth management process to figure out how you feel about market volatility. We recognize how gender can play a role in designing your financial approach and can assist you with strategies for volatility, helping you follow your approach even when it might be difficult to do so.

The process we follow also focuses on rebalancing your investment portfolio to help you maintain your asset allocation when market conditions change abruptly. Should this occur, we strive to speak with you to share our views on what we believe are taking place and reinforce how your portfolio is designed to help navigate volatility, while pursuing your goals. Recent events and market volatility demonstrate just how valuable this exercise can be for your future.

If you are a married couple when your financial approach is developed, we may make assumptions for social security income, living expenses and longevity based on both your ages. That approach may be reviewed and adjusted for a surviving spouse, along with revisions to reflect possible changes in your goals and priorities.

Focus on Women

Longevity has become a critical issue for women, probably one of the biggest reasons why women’s needs are so different than men’s in terms of financial saving and investing. Women typically live on average five years longer than men and by age 85 women outnumber men two to one. 1 

Women retirees and surviving spouses may have special planning needs that have become a focus for Prumo, Kalvar and Associates. Steve and David are experienced working with clients impacted by the financial challenges of longevity, divorce, losing a spouse, becoming a caregiver for a loved one or needing professional long-term care. Longevity also poses an increased risk for Alzheimer’s.2 Through financial discussions, education and attentiveness to the issues specific to women, the team can help you with a customized financial approach designed for your situation.
