In 1984, I moved to Massachusetts from India, where I was an accountant. Launching my career in the U.S. as a teller, I was soon promoted to assistant branch manager. In that role, I came to appreciate the need to bring clients a coordinated offering of appropriate services and solutions. After working at Quick & Reilly as an investment representative, I became a financial advisor at Banc of America Investment Services, and since 2009, at Merrill Lynch.
Over the years, I’ve honed my skills as a resourceful, “hands-on” financial advisor that sees clients as people with distinct needs and ambitions. I need to understand who they’re taking care of, their primary concerns and most cherished goals. I also examine clients’ beneficiaries, wills, powers of attorney, and other documents. I hold the Chartered Retirement Planning CounselorSM (CRPC®) designation from the College for Financial Planning.
When it comes to investing, each client’s comfort with risk, need for liquidity, and other factors drive my efforts. Using Merrill Lynch research, I build investment portfolios designed to help clients pursue long-term goals – for themselves and loved ones. Beyond investments, I craft retirement and education planning, liability management, and tax minimization and estate planning strategies. I remind clients to save money when possible, and, especially, to follow the strategy we’ve agreed upon.
As a business owner myself, I hold hardworking clients in high esteem. Virtually all have been with me for more than five years or referred to me recently. They reside here in Worcester, throughout Massachusetts and in seven other states. Among them are active and retired business owners, widows, and others for whom my personal demeanor and desire to enhance distinct aspects of their financial pictures are at the foundation of my offering.
Having raised three children (who’ve graduated from fine institutions), it’s natural for me to look out for clients’ kids. My children have investments and I believe that clients’ children should, too – as an educational tool that teaches the value of developing wise financial habits. In addition to meeting with clients frequently, I enjoy sharing financial lessons with clients’ children. As a caring parent and financial advisor, my roles often intersect.
I follow the deep-seated Merrill Lynch tradition of participating in the communities we serve. This drives my interest in spending time volunteering with organizations in our community.
