Personalized advice from a dedicated financial advisor.
We get to know you and your family, your financial situation and what matters most to you.
At The Atlas Group, we do not rest on our strengths. Instead, we work as hard as our clients – to put their interests above all else and to provide an uncommon level of personalized wealth management, beyond what many expect.
Having worked together for decades and with many clients just as long, we have harnessed the power of those relationships to provide them with enduring, real-world value. In fact, we have become the “first call” for many clients when matters of health, wealth and family are primary concerns.
As one of the largest Merrill teams in the Midwest, our size reflects the scope of services we provide to generations of families across the country. Our diverse professional backgrounds afford us a perspective that extends well beyond investments. We offer integrated, goals-based strategies that embrace retirement planning, wealth transfer, philanthropy, and liability management. We also connect clients with our firm’s outstanding banking and trust specialists, as well as resources throughout their communities.
On a personal note, we find it fulfilling to bring comfort and confidence to clients. Through comprehensive planning that continues over time, we stay in touch and on top of each client’s situation and ambitions. Doing so allows us to help clients see around corners at likely and unlikely circumstances for which our strategies help them prepare.
It is our privilege to serve clients we admire for their achievements and values. As advisors and sounding boards, we welcome the opportunity to simplify their financial lives – so they can focus on what most excites them – perhaps, the business they founded, the career in front of them, or the family that makes life worthwhile. Or maybe it is a cause that is close to their heart.
At The Atlas Group, we believe the value of an advisory team is best measured by the goals that clients achieve. Balancing meaning and metrics with our strong competencies and heartfelt care, we share a desire to deliver a wealth management experience beyond what clients expect, but certainly deserve.
It is our practice to:
• See each client as an individual – with important pursuits, purposes and people in their lives.
• Help clients plan and prepare for financial transitions, as well as likely and unlikely circumstances.
• Ask questions that lead to thoughtful discussions and strategies, such as:
“What’s on your mind?”
“What’s your definition of financial success?”
“What financial or life lessons do you want to make sure your family knows?”
“For whom are you responsible – a spouse, elderly parent, adult child?
“What about your employees – are you looking out for them, if something were to happen to you?”
“What’s on your bucket list?”
“What drives you?”
“Why have you come to us?”
• Listen carefully to clients individually, in family meetings, at curated client gatherings, and in focus groups with outside moderators. On these occasions, we want to understand what we are doing well and where we can improve.
• Show clients how intergenerational wealth strategies can help lead to desired lifestyles and legacies.
• Assist business owners and executives with the design and management of their executive compensation plans and corporate retirement plans. Our commitment extends to their employees through our team’s financial wellness and employee education resources.
• Demonstrate that “going the extra mile is never going out of our way.” We have accompanied clients to local Social Security offices and on tours of assisted living facilities. We have sat with clients in hospital rooms and at funerals. On a regular basis, we host meetings in our office with clients, their CPAs and attorneys to align tax-minimization and estate planning strategies.
If it keeps you up at night, we want to know.
Our passion stems from why we chose to enter the wealth management industry. Put simply, we enjoy helping people make confident financial and life decisions.
Here’s what you can expect:
• A highly personalized, planning-based process that begins on day one and is on-going. From the outset, we need to appreciate your life priorities, concerns, risk tolerance, and preferences. As time goes on, we will develop a tailored strategy for you and you alone – to connect your personal, professional, and family goals.
• Frequent communication with you is a cornerstone of our approach – one grounded in a clear view of who you are and what you envision going forward. We will also help you understand the feasibility of your goals and the trade-offs you may need to make now or in the future.
• We look for ways to educate clients’ and their children about investing.
• We also facilitate family wealth discussions that may be difficult for you to initiate on your own – often collaborating with CPAs and attorneys.
In 1914, Charles Merrill said, “The interests of our customers must come first.” It is our feeling that he would be gratified to see the premium we place on our commitment to clients.
At The Atlas Group, we have profound respect for our clients – good people who have earned their wealth in different ways – and come to us with distinct financial perspectives. Given our history serving multiple generations, we do not refer to clients as such. Rather, we think of them as members of our own family. In some cases, these families have become our closest friends.
As our group has grown – and become one of the largest in the Midwest – we have made sure the ages of our team members allow us to relate well to clients. In fact, we serve a broad spectrum of people with diverse lifestyles at various stages of their lives and the wealth continuum. Whether they are building wealth and a career, expanding a business, nearing retirement or anticipated a liquidity event, we work collaboratively to create immeasurable and consistent value.
On behalf of clients in traditional and non-traditional families, we strive to work with each family member to understand their respective mindsets. When helpful, we also conduct family meetings to discuss matters of estate planning, business succession, or the support of a special needs child or elderly parent. It is our responsibility to provide specific strategies that directly address the needs and nuances of our clients’ lives.
Determined to function as “life advisors,” we genuinely care about clients’ financial, physical and emotional well-being. When needed, we have introduced them to doctors and counselors, as well as tax and legal professionals we’ve known for years.
From our offices in Ohio and Michigan, we serve clients in more than 45 states. Location and distance are not issues for us. Regardless of geography, we are here to deliver a consistently robust level of service. We measure our effectiveness by the positive impact we make during clients’ most challenging transitions – on their lifestyles and livelihoods.
Finally, we recognize that successful people can choose from among thousands of advisors. We also know that our own diligence and performance help our clients focus more squarely on their families, careers and favorite causes. Given the opportunity, we look forward to helping you enjoy the people and passions in your life.
