A three-time cancer survivor, Mo holds a place in his heart – and in his practice – for good people who are hardworking, devoted to others, and know that money is not a priority but a tool for enhancing their lifestyle or legacy. Having owned and sold real estate, Mo also recognizes the financial risks that business owners and many other clients face. Mo feels privileged to help clients face life’s challenges with timely and thoughtful guidance that allows for thoughtful decisions, rather than emotional ones.

Mo’s fascination with the world of finance began decades before he made it his career. In grade school, Mo attended a Merrill Lynch seminar with his father. Having never become clients of Merrill Lynch or any financial institution, Mo witnessed the stressful and costly financial mistakes made by his family (as business owners) – ones that easily could have been avoided with the attention of a caring advisor.

Mo launched his financial career in1997 at Dean Witter (eventually, Morgan Stanley) and became a branch manager. In 2005, Mo moved to Banc of America Premier Banking and Investments so that he could leave management and work directly with clients. In 2008, Mo transitioned to the role of a Merrill Lynch financial advisor (when the firm was acquired by Bank of America, N.A.).

Highly credentialed, Mo finds that his rigorous industry training allows him to bring clients the high degree of investment wisdom they deserve. Mo holds The Certified Private Wealth Advisor® (CPWA®) designation sponsored by the Investments & Wealth Institute™ at the Booth School of Business, University of Chicago. As a Senior Portfolio Advisor, Mo can also help clients pursue their objectives by managing on a discretionary basis custom investment strategies, selecting from a wide range of Merrill Lynch model portfolios and third-party investment strategies.

The eighth of nine kids, Mo worked in his parents’ ice cream serving business as a child and in a printing/publishing firm throughout high school. After paying his way through college, Mo bought his first home at 22 years of age and was married a year later.

In 2018, Mo and his wife, Jeanne, celebrated 25 years of marriage. They enjoy parenthood and are involved in their son’s school – volunteering and supporting his hockey team. They also donate their time and resources to important causes, and enjoy life in Town and Country, Missouri. Mo is longtime and mediocre hockey player who coaches youth hockey, plays golf and tennis, and takes pleasure in spending quality time with friends and family.

Since 1997, I’ve served a growing clientele in the same way I treat my closest friends – with care, concern and consistency.

Thanks to referrals from many clients, I now assist CFOs and other senior-level executives, attorneys, business owners, engineers, teachers, and generations of families – in the St. Louis area, throughout Missouri and in ten other states. As a business owner and real estate owner myself, I know the challenges facing busy people with an entrepreneurial spirit. That’s why I try to “tie it all together” for clients – their personal and business interests including investments, liabilities, and trust and estate issues.

I also place tremendous emphasis on one area that many advisors do not – taxes. I find that “taxes” are the greatest expense each year for most clients. In fact, clients are often required to pay more in taxes than they spend on discretionary expenses such as homes, vacations and cars.

To minimize each client’s tax burden and maximize results, I often coordinate with clients’ CPAs. Additionally, I meet with clients’ attorneys and accompany clients to their offices – when helpful. What some may consider “going the extra mile” is something I expect of myself. I see my role as helping clients enjoy their lives and holding their other advisors accountable.

Given my own life experience as a three-time cancer survivor, my mission is heartfelt – to bolster each client’s financial and physical health. Many clients trust me with their medical information and intimate family issues. I believe that all clients see the value in my efforts – and in the overall wealth planning experience I provide.

What Clients Can Expect

No financial advisor can accurately predict market behavior, global events, or a client’s personal health.

That’s why my focus is helping clients prepare for various scenarios and make informed decisions along the way – regardless of how events unfold. Through friendly and frequent contact, I can help clients plan for tomorrow, by being highly aware of their yesterdays and todays. For example, are clients spending too much, investing too little, or both?

Based on what I learn is most important to each client, I can also make the specific complexities of their financial lives easier to manage and understand. When possible, I try to educate clients, so they can grasp a strategy, or what they own and why. Experience tells me that clients can feel confident when they know where they stand and their role in following a disciplined strategy crafted just for them. 

While my relationships with clients are casual and authentic, my approach is highly disciplined. Addressing what I call my “Five P’s,” I begin with:
• Client Preferences for staying in touch and using technology. (My conference table is seldom used. Instead, I meet clients at restaurants, their homes, offices, and by WebEx.)
• Planning is a critical step in which clients’ goals and concerns are identified and prioritized at the outset and over the course of the relationship.
• Accounting for a range of personal and financial factors, I can develop Portfolio, Protective Component, and “Pay Lower Taxes” strategies that combine to enhance and insulate client wealth from external influences.

Supported by the extraordinary research and resources of Merrill Lynch Wealth Management and access to Bank of America, N.A. banking products, I am able to help accomplished clients accomplish more – whether they prefer to invest in sophisticated or simple ways, expand their enterprises, retire comfortably, secure residential lending or a bridge loan. Everything I do is customized to a client’s needs. “Cookie-cutter” is not in my vocabulary, because it’s not in a client’s best interest.
