A Merrill Lynch financial advisor since 2007, Sue dedicates her professional time to individuals, business owners, and executives in order to develop personalized wealth management strategies. Working closely with a team of trusted tax and estate planning specialists, Sue’s clients also receive the care needed to plan for the appropriate transfer of wealth.
Sue uses a disciplined process to understand her client’s unique values, priorities, challenges and goals, and becomes an essential resource to each. This process lays the foundation for creating goals-based strategies that help clients achieve their own definition of financial freedom.
Sue enjoys working with extended families and addressing needs in various life stages. This requires managing investment behavior and mitigating the risks to desired outcomes. Automated savings plans, developing stock option exercise strategies, retirement income plan design, social security planning, insurance assessments, and long term care planning are all services available to Sue's clients.
Sue earned her Chartered Retirement Planning CounselorSM designation in October of 2008, and was awarded the CFP® certification by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. in March of 2012.
After earning a B.S. in Medical Technology, and a minor in Chemistry from the University of Iowa’s College of Medicine, Sue pursued a career in the health care industry that spanned over 20 years working in both the clinical and information technology settings. After working in the Clinical Microbiology Laboratory at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for 3.5 years, Sue moved to Kansas City to work for Cerner Corporation, where she worked for more than 17 years in the areas of sales, marketing and product development. Just prior to starting her career at Merrill Lynch, Sue was named as an inventor on three software patents with a team of her fellow Cerner associates. All three of these patents have been approved and are now on file with the U.S. Patent Office. | As of January 1st, 2016, Sue is one of four financial advisors that make up the FTT Group at Merrill Lynch; working with Karl Farnung, Connor Teahan, and Jim Shay.
Sue was born and raised in Southeastern Wisconsin on a farm that has been in her family for more than 100 years. Her work ethic, spirit of stewardship, and ability to manage uncertainty are deeply rooted in the experience of a successfully operated family enterprise.
A service-minded and educational approach to her client relationships is also evident in the community. Sue has worked with the Girl Scouts of NE Kansas and NW Missouri, The Women’s Foundation of Greater Kansas City, and Junior Achievement, to deliver financial education programs; and has served on committees and boards of local non-profit organizations.
Sue resides along with her family in Kansas City’s Northland, and is an active member of St. James Lutheran Church in Kansas City, Missouri.
