Welcome

Glenn Schunkewitz is a Senior Vice President and Senior Financial Advisor with Merrill Lynch Wealth Management in Chester, New Jersey. For more than 40 years, he has been serving the wealth management needs of business owners, corporate executives, and families with generational wealth. Empathetic and accessible, he is also particularly sensitive to the needs of women, many of whom will take full responsibility for their finances at some point in their lives—as sole earners, after divorce, or as widows.

His extensive industry experience has given Glenn a clear understanding of how changing markets can affect portfolio outcomes. A proponent of long-term financial planning, he strives to filter out the noise and help clients remove emotions from the process so that they can make smart decisions based on their goals. Glenn draws on his knowledge, together with his background in municipal bonds to help clients preserve and transfer their wealth to the next generation. Throughout his process, he helps educate clients about their investments in clear, understandable language.

Looking beyond his clients’ investable assets, Glenn seeks to understand their life goals and what they hope to achieve with their wealth, including a comfortable retirement income, saving for college, building a business, ensuring financial security for successive generations, or caring for an aging parent or family member.

Another notable strength is Glenn’s ability to complement and work seamlessly with his clients’ circle of advisors to help integrate the various aspects of their financial lives—such as tax management, trust, and wealth transfer planning—into a seamless whole.

After earning his bachelor’s degree in accounting and business from Albright College, Glenn began his financial services career in 1982 in municipal bond marketing and sales at Merrill’s Liberty One office in New York City. In 1984 he transitioned to Prudential Bache Securities where he spent 17 years before moving to UBS in 2001. Glenn returned to Merrill® in 2015.

A native of Randolph, New Jersey, Glenn and his wife, Yvonne, currently reside in Mendham. When he is not caring for his father and brother, Glenn spends time with a local car club and enjoys a variety of outdoor activities, including hiking, biking, and spending weekends working in his garden at his country home. A former equestrian, his hobbies also center around traveling and enjoying restaurants and fine wines with family and friends.

Philosophy

Life is always changing and growing more complex. In the same way, your priorities and needs around your family, work, health and home are always evolving. And since your finances are so deeply connected with the rest of your life, an investment approach that is specific to your unique situation can be helpful. Even if you're accustomed to managing your finances on your own, you may find value in having a relationship with someone who understands your priorities and who has the knowledge and resources to help you make more informed decisions, no matter where you are in life.

Investments

I believe that your investments should be a reflection of you — your life, your priorities, your goals. As your dedicated advisor I will get to know what matters most to you and help you define your goals. I use this understanding to help you build a customized financial strategy and offer consistent, personalized advice. Combined with professional management, you can stay on the right path towards pursuing your long-term objectives.

Approach

Every relationship begins with a conversation, helping you identify and prioritize which goals matter most to you. Whether it's transferring wealth to the next generation, customizing your financial approach to help you pursue your passions, or providing advice and guidance to help you stay informed, I start by listening to learn more about you and your family.

Your approach to investing

Drawing upon research in the field of behavioral finance, Merrill developed the Investment Personality Assessment to help us get to know you better as an investor and potentially help you refine your own investing preferences. By gaining a deeper understanding of how you think and feel about investing through this assessment, we can customize the financial approach we develop together to help you pursue what matters most to you. Our Investment Personality Assessment is one of the ways to help us get to know you - to understand your goals and priorities. These questions will help us provide you with additional insights and resources.

Understanding your goals and priorities

Your life and goals change. We have tools to help you keep track of these changes so they can be reflected in your financial approach.

Capabilities

I have the experience, knowledge and tools to understand your current financial situation and to help you create potential strategies designed to pursue your short- and long-term goals. A range of capabilities is offered to you, including retirement income planning and potential wealth transfer solutions from Merrill with access to trust and estate planning services and philanthropic solutions through Bank of America.

Focus On

Over the last few decades, life expectancy has risen dramatically. Today's retirees are not only living longer, they are living healthier longer. So a question to be answered is "What do you do with those extra years and how will you pay for them?"

No matter how much income you may have, putting a retirement strategy in place could be the most important thing—the first thing—you can do as you work with the team on your overall financial strategy. The team can help you determine your lifetime cash flow requirements, you can then focus on the other pieces of your financial life, including legacy and family needs, volunteering for charitable work, leisure time activities, acquisition of collectibles, and building a second home. Let's talk about customizing and implementing a strategy to help you achieve a comfortable retirement.
