Investment Strategy: Seizing Opportunity and Managing Risk

Core investment tenets include:

  • Markets and economies are interconnected. The investment landscape is exceedingly complex today, but can be deciphered
  • Portfolio structuring should be heavily influenced by your time horizon for the invested assets.
  • There are several forms of risk in investing, not just price volatility. Your tolerance for risk depends on a number of factors, not just your age.
  • Diversification is a good first step in managing portfolio risks. True diversification is about finding an optimal mix of non-correlated investment assets.
  • Liquidity and marketability are paramount to maintain flexibility in a rapidly changing market environment.
  • We place a high value on transparency— in terms of investment portfolio performance, progress to goals and all associated expenses.

Review and Evaluate
As we work with you in building a portfolio, we help you weigh overall balance sheet exposures and, in concert with your tax professionals, help you evaluate tax minimization strategies. We focus on carefully tracking progress to goals, and we repeatedly ask this question: Is each portfolio on track to fulfill its mandate and pursue your stated goal?
