Glenn Hofferber’s deep and varied Wall Street experience has led to him serving a distinguished clientele in the hedge fund, trading, and banking industries – as well as accountants, successful business owners (and their defined benefit plans), married and divorced couples, and families he’s known for decades.
“Clients who know me best are my former colleagues,” Glenn says. “I believe they come to me for my integrity and investment acumen. I was trained to do the right thing – and I’m proud to do that, for clients who know precisely what ‘the right thing’ is. Transparency and cost sensitivity define my approach.”
Glenn’s frequent conversations with industry leaders allow him to share timely insights with clients who desire a collaborative relationship. Glenn enjoys educating and explaining rationales behind strategies and how external factors can affect their portfolios. “Looking out for clients also means looking ahead with them. Helping clients prepare for financial transitions is a necessary and fluid process,” he points out.
Using research from Merrill Lynch analysts and external sources – along with his own learning from political and economic reports, and company balance sheets – Glenn constructs client portfolios that reflect their personal preferences, timelines, and need for liquidity. “I taught technical analysis at another firm, and evaluate everything – from current events to currency fluctuations. Staying on top of change is critical to superior wealth management.”
With an eye toward cost efficiency and mitigating risk, Glenn favors individual bonds and equities, as well as ETFs. To enhance wealth on both sides of clients’ balance sheets, Glenn provides access to Bank of America N.A., for residential and securities-based lending.
“Clients are focused on careers and families,” Glenn explains. “I not only bring them perspective, but help them participate in the markets and monitor volatility on their behalf. As a financial advisor, it’s gratifying to provide the level of scrutiny and personal attention that I would want.”
Glenn’s impressive investment career spans decades and leading financial firms – with time spent on the institutional and retail sides of the industry. During 17 years at Goldman Sachs, Glenn worked in the Fixed Income Currency and Commodities division trading energy commodities, and was eventually named Vice President, Portfolio Trader of the Goldman Sachs Commodity Index Fund (GSCI). Later, Glenn joined the CME in market regulation as Associate Director of Market Surveillance. In 2014, Glenn was invited to join Merrill Lynch.
A lifelong resident of New Jersey, Glenn earned a Bachelors degree in Economics from Clark University. He and his wife, Janice (who has 30 years in the industry) are proud parents of twin daughters who star on the track and field teams at their high school in Rumson. In addition to “family-skiing” in Colorado, Glenn loves the outdoor life – fishing, scuba diving, hiking, road biking, and boating. He is also an avid chef. Generous with his time, Glenn is a member of The Eastern Monmouth Area Chamber of Commerce and volunteers at its charity events. He is also involved with a local church and has coached girls’ soccer.
