Since 1985, Angel has provided a loyal and growing circle of clients what he calls “the wisdom of Wall Street and the authenticity of Main Street.” Guiding them through volatile markets in each decade, Angel’s focus has never wavered. He remains committed to helping clients enjoy the lifestyles they envision and create legacies for those they love.

Who does he serve? Angel’s clientele shares an entrepreneurial mindset – business owners (including those in the technology and specialty food industries), physicians looking to expand, buy or sell their practice, and generations of their families – primarily in the New York metropolitan area.

Angel’s philosophy reflects his training as an architect – recognizing that building a strong financial foundation is critical and that structuring a financial strategy must be done with a long-term focus.

Talking to clients in their own business language, he explains what a downturn may feel like and the importance of tax efficiencies. When it comes to investing, Angel begins with the firm’s research and resources to help diversify clients’ portfolios with holdings across asset classes – especially, when they hold concentrated positions or options. He complements that approach with his own method for selecting a company as an investment (including its management, competitive standing and balance sheet).

Angel also emphasizes succession and estate planning strategies for clients – aligning his efforts with those of clients’ CPAs and attorneys. In addition, he offers access to residential, securities-based and structured lending through Bank of America, N.A.

Considering himself to be a “hands-on” and “ears-open” advisor, Angel asks questions of clients, listening and learning to what holds meaning in their lives – most often, a well-deserved retirement or an ongoing interest in the business they founded or the real estate they acquired. By analyzing a client’s financial picture – and devoting time to identifying areas of strengths and weaknesses – he can enhance both sides of their balance sheets (assets and liabilities).

Most meaningful to Angel is being a client’s source of education and financial acumen. He feel fulfilled helping others experiencing their most challenging times – the loss of a spouse, divorce, career change or retirement. Beyond his role as a financial advisor, Angel strives to be his clients’ trusted “life advisor” and looks at estate planning strategies, for example, as essential to addressing their wealth and wishes.

Angel is a highly credentialed advisor. He finds that his rigorous and ongoing industry training allows him to bring clients an extra measure of financial knowledge and work more strategically and analytically on their behalf. He is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional, a designation awarded by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. He also holds Certified Plan Fiduciary Advisor (CPFA) designation and the Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU®) designation.

Before joining Merrill in 2016, Angel spent more than 30 years in financial services – Including nine years in Europe working for two of the largest international wealth managers and private banks. While working as a financial planner in his previous positions, he acquired extensive wealth management and estate planning experience which he applies in his current role at Merrill.

A graduate of Pratt Institute where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Angel and his wife, Anna (a native of Barcelona), reside in Manhattan with their Maltipoo, Chloe. Passionate travelers, the couple visits Spain –  Barcelona and Mallorca, in particular – whenever possible.

Angel, is considered an Outlier in Aikido, a peaceful Japanese martial art. As the first apprentice (Ushideshi) and original member, at the Aikido headquarters in New York City, Angel was a senior teacher for more than 30 years. His love for this art, keeps him involved today, sharing his expertise with new students, in the U.S. and abroad. Angel is proud to bring the same devotion and commitment to his work and his clients.
