Lorne Bycoff brings diverse experiences in investment banking, institutional and personal wealth management to a growing circle of executives, business owners, and other busy professionals in the New York area and nationwide. Lorne blends his extensive knowledge of investing with a natural passion for helping ambitious individuals satisfy meaningful financial goals for themselves and loved ones.
“I know that offering a distinct measure of attention and knowledge goes a long way. The clients I serve are realistic in their motivations and aspirations, but they want to make money,” Lorne says. “They deserve a trusted advisor who goes to bat for them, grows with them, and most importantly, delivers for them.”
Considering himself intellectually curious and analytical, Lorne strives to appreciate desired “milestones and moments” in clients’ lives. He agrees with clients that money is just one measuring stick for success and satisfaction. That’s why he looks at how wealth is structured – crafting strategies to account for clients’ goals and expectations (for retirement, wealth transfer, business succession, and philanthropy).
“From an investment perspective, clients must play offense and defense,” Lorne explains. “To mitigate volatility, I build endowment-style portfolios using several proprietary strategies. Taking an astute and academic approach to investing, I synthesize input from Merrill Lynch analysts with my own research – before making suitable recommendations across asset classes.”
Lorne reminds clients that emotional and short-term financial decisions can affect their family’s wealth for years to come. For that reason, he encourages clients to call for “anything financial” – whether they’re contemplating a large purchase, saving for college, or helping an elderly parent. “Like clients, I need to sleep at night knowing I’m doing everything possible to help foster positive outcomes. Whether I connect clients with our specialists, or coordinate with CPAs and trust and estate attorneys, I want to help optimize their financial opportunities. Diligently managing clients’ wealth is an outgrowth of what I know – and how much I care,” Lorne adds.
Lorne Bycoff, who joined Merrill Lynch in 2015, has over ten years of experience in the financial services industry. A proud alumnus of Duke University, Lorne holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics, with a Minor in Philosophy. Lorne is the Co-Chairman of the Duke Young Alumni Development Council and is a member of Duke Financial Partners. Lorne is actively involved in several charities.
I follow the deep-seated Merrill Lynch tradition of participating in the communities we serve. This drives my interest in spending time volunteering with organizations in our community.
