Whether you're just getting started in your career or winding down a successful one, we seek to enhance your financial life through personal service, knowledgeable advice and disciplined investment management.
Our mission is to:
As we work together, we will engage you in regular discussions. Our initial conversations help us gain important insights into your values, priorities and concerns and understand what you'd like your wealth to accomplish now and over time. Next we will review your personal balance sheet, both assets and liabilities, so we can assess where you stand today. We will also seek to determine how much risk you are comfortable with. The customized strategies we recommend are tailored to your objectives, time horizon, liquidity needs and appetite for risk. We believe that it's important to integrate the different components of your financial life. At your request, we can collaborate closely and communicate regularly with your other professional advisors, including your attorney, to see that assets are titled properly, and your accountant, to consider the impact of business and personal taxes on your accounts. In designing a strategy for you, we spend a significant amount of time researching and analyzing data. We select top institutional money managers and provide cohesiveness and oversight to the process. In choosing managers, we look at style consistency and performance relative to relevant benchmarks and risk. Then we plug our selections into asset allocation models based on your situation and goals.
Offering Discretionary Management
You can delegate to Mark Kean investment management responsibilities for your portfolios, meaning that he has discretion over certain investment decisions surrounding your investment strategy. Once Mark has confirmed your goals and life priorities, as well as identified your portfolio investment objective, time horizon, risk factor and liquidity needs, he will recommend targeted asset allocations for your portfolios to help pursue your specific investment objectives. Granting Mark authority allows him to respond to market changes, price volatility and global events with the ability to make adjustments, if needed, to help your portfolio stay on track to pursue your goals. To help you monitor and assess performance, we will regularly review your portfolio with you, and you will receive periodic communications including monthly statements, quarterly portfolio summary updates and annual performance reports.
The Importance of Diversification
We believe that diversification is an important tool in mitigating volatility risk and can lead to improved portfolio performance over time. A well-balanced portfolio may extend beyond the traditional asset classes of equities, fixed income and cash equivalents to include international mutual funds, hedge funds, private equity, individual managed accounts, ETFs, unit trusts, managed futures and structured products.
A Financial Bridge Between Generations
Your overall wealth management strategy should take into account not only your own future but also that of your loved ones. We help to educate your children and grandchildren about their future wealth now—so that when the time comes, they have a resource they can turn to for guidance.
Our strategies seek to address the varied aspects of your financial life, from accumulating and preserving wealth to managing risk, creating tax minimization strategies and providing estate and retirement planning services.
Retirement-income and cash-flow planning services—We can draw on a full suite of retirement planning software and tools to help determine whether you are on track to retire when and how you desire. If you are already retired, we can conduct regular "stress tests" on your portfolios to help determine if your assets can support your desired income stream for a suitable number of years.
Tax minimization strategies—Working with your tax professionals, we can help mitigate the effect of taxes on your portfolio—for example, by offsetting capital gains with losses, where applicable. With your tax professional, we can also help project your potential tax liability in retirement and design strategies that may help to decrease its impact.
Corporate executive services—We are well versed in helping corporate executives with the complexities associated with company stock options, restricted stock and nonqualified deferred compensation, as well as with maximizing their retirement plan contributions. If we are managing just a portion of your assets, we will want to know about your other holdings—for example, if you participate in a company 401(k) or stock option plan—so that the portfolio we design for you will complement these investments. Every step of the way, we will assist you with diversifying and monetizing your holdings as part of a total portfolio strategy.
Strategies for businesses—Through 401(k)s, profit-sharing programs, defined-benefit/pension plans and nonqualified deferred-compensation plans, we can help entrepreneurs increase the amount of income they can defer for retirement while providing a valuable benefit to their employees. We can also create cash management strategies designed to help them improve cash flow, grow operating and investable capital and save on fees. Additionally, for owners of small to midsize companies, we can assist with acquisitions, liquidity events like the sale of the business, and insurance needs, including key-man and buy-sell policies.
Philanthropic services—Whether you are starting a new philanthropic foundation or trust or need support for an existing program, we can provide you with access to Bank of America specialists to help you pursue your charitable objectives.
Wealth transfer strategies—Working with Bank of America trust and estate planning specialists and your attorneys and accountants, we can develop strategies designed to help minimize estate taxes and address other trust and estate planning needs.
Access to credit and lending—Through a Wealth Management Lending Officer from Bank of America, we can offer clients access to an expansive array of home financing, credit and lending services.Education funding—We can estimate the cost of higher education in future dollars, then help you work to cover these expenses by exploring the growth potential of college saving plans and other instruments.
