Robert O'Brien is a Senior Vice President and Senior Financial Advisor with Merrill in Cincinnati, Ohio. Rob enjoys many aspects of his profession but three stand out: 1) Spending time with clients and listening-understanding what's important to them 2) Solving complex financial challenges with customized strategies, and 3) Helping clients through a life changing transition such as: retirement, sale of a business, or estate planning needs. Rob, along with his multi-generational team and the vast resources of Merrill and Bank of America, are well positioned to serve and lead clients today and well into the future.  

In addition to Rob's responsibilities as a Senior Financial Advisor, he has also served as the Co-Director of Merrill's Financial Advisor Development Program in the Ohio Valley market covering Northern Kentucky, Cincinnati and Dayton, OH. In this leadership capacity Rob was responsible for training, coaching, and developing future financial advisors for the firm.

Rob is a graduate of Miami University in Oxford, OH and continued his studies in Financial Planning at Boston University. He is also a graduate of Upper Arlington high school in Columbus, OH.    Civic minded and involved in many aspects of our community, Rob currently volunteers with the Miami University Athletic Department Development board. Previous board work has included: Cincinnati chapter of the American Cancer Society (2016-2019), the Richard T. Farmer School of Business at Miami University (2015-2018), Miami University Alumni Association (2011-2014), and Court Appointed Special Advocates for Kids (2009-2014). Rob was recognized with the President's Volunteer Service Award under President Obama in 2013, 2015, and 2016.   Rob and his wife Jackie have two boys. Away from the office Rob enjoys coaching his kid’s travel baseball and hockey teams, playing golf, and spending time together as a family.   Rob is a specially qualified Portfolio Manager who can help clients pursue their objectives by managing on a discretionary basis his own Personalized or Defined Strategies, which may incorporate individual stocks and bonds, Merrill model portfolios, and third-party investment strategies.
