We believe wealth management should go beyond investment advice and asset allocation. We conduct a comprehensive review of your liabilities (mortgage and personal debt) and risk management (life, disability and long term care insurance), to help educate you about your finances and empower you to make decisions. We are very sensitive to the impact of taxes on investment returns and work alongside your tax and legal advisors to help ensure your full financial well-being is achieved.
For individuals and families in transition (i.e. retirement, sale of a business, death of a spouse, divorce or inheritance), we understand the challenges and concerns those life events can present. Through our expansive resources and network we can provide guidance and create structure to help make those changes easier.
Our investment philosophy is anchored by the following core principles:
• We select investment managers with consistently favorable risk adjusted returns versus their peers. We prefer manager tenure of five to ten years, longer if possible.
• We believe that the single most important determinant of investment returns over time is asset allocation.
• We do not attempt to time markets.
• We recognize the importance of investment expense and tax minimization to the total return of client portfolios.
• We take a total return approach to investing. Investment returns come from both price appreciation and income generated within a portfolio. Either can be “spent” by a client.
