Working on the Institutional side of Wall Street and now on the retail side of Wall Street has allowed me to gain a well-rounded understanding of Wall Street. With the depth of knowledge of both sides of these markets, I have a heartfelt passion to help my clients put their values into action – especially when life’s greatest difficulties may distract from the financial goals they’ve long envisioned.

I’ve enjoyed a successful career working for Merrill Lynch – devoting my energy and enthusiasm to serving a loyal, multi-generational clientele in Tennessee (and 17 other states). My clients look to me for wisdom and support to help move life forward. With rigorous training and working as an advocate for my clients, I initiate a wealth management approach to high net-worth individuals and families. Primary areas of my practice include Retirement Planning, Long Term care and Life Insurance planning, Business Retirement plans and Special Needs Services.

I obtained the Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor (CRPC) designation from the College for Financial Planning. I am a qualified Portfolio Advisor who, in addition to providing traditional advice and guidance, can help clients pursue their investment objectives by recommending individual, or any combination of, Merrill Lynch or approved third- party investment managers’ strategies, funds or portfolios.

Over the years, I have actively supported the YMCA, Alzheimer’s research and served on the Board of Alexian Village of Tennessee (a retirement/healthcare community). I have also presented on Autism at the Autism Symposium at Lee University and ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) at the Everyday Hero’s Gala in Chattanooga, TN.  Inspired by my mother who cared for my oldest with special-needs sister and my other sister who suffered through ALS, I learned early on that life’s challenges can be unforgiving and that helping others is my gift that should be shared. Speaking at various events around the area, I hope to support finding a cure for ALS.  Aside from my professional life, one could call a cure for ALS one of my greatest personal passions.

For years, I’ve brought clients the wisdom of Wall Street and the authenticity of Main Street. In fact, I began my career at a Merrill Lynch where I worked in institutional investing. In that role, I learned that dozens of global factors could affect people’s portfolios. With this knowledge, I now help clients grow and preserve wealth to the extent they’re comfortable with risk. I never forget that I’m helping to manage each client’s money (not mine). I admire clients for reaching a point where they can trust my input as an unbiased, fact-based advisor.

Who do I serve? Successful business owners, corporate executives (some with concentrated stock), physicians, attorneys, retired couples (who need to keep growing their wealth), widows and generations of their families across Tennessee and in 17 other states. I’ve also come to serve a circle of families I’ve helped with special-needs trusts for their children.

What distinguishes my offering? I treat clients like members of my family and treat their finances like a business. That demands my vigilance and skillset. Having served many clients for as long as 30 years and now their referred colleagues and family, I believe they value the longevity and quality of our relationships. Given that we’re the right fit, I hope to begin a long-term relationship with you, as well.

My late husband took care of our financial paperwork – where do I start? How can I preserve wealth and still benefit from traditional market growth?  How will I pay for Long Term Care"?

I’ll review your will, health care proxies and other documents that can have a lasting impact on intergenerational wealth. We will also discuss your insurance coverage (or lack thereof) – especially, long-term-care insurance – as well as your Social Security strategy, and what would happen to your family if you don’t wake up tomorrow?

When helpful, I may also coordinate with our firm’s specialists and with your other trusted advisors. I can accompany you to the offices of your CPAs and attorney or host meetings in my office – to help align tax-minimization and estate planning strategies. To help enhance both sides of your balance sheet – assets and liabilities – I can connect you to specialists at Bank of America, N.A. for residential, commercial, and securities-based lending. “Bringing the right people to the table” on a regular basis reflects my commitment to serve the very best interests of you and your family.

My background in institutional investing is rare among financial advisors. For much of my career, I spent years in institutional investing on the Merrill municipal bond trading desk. This experience afforded me first-hand insights into the behavior of global markets, the power and trends of interest rates, the effects of inflation, and the intrinsic value of stocks, bonds and other instruments.

Today, my ears remain open to the equity markets, government and corporate bond markets, the thought leadership of Merrill analysts, and others worldwide. Using professional managers I’ve known for many years – all whom are subject to the firm’s approval and due diligence – I am able to build custom portfolios that are as different as you are. Each strategy reflects you, the client – rather than me, the advisor. I weigh your risk tolerance, need for liquidity, investment timeline and short- and long-term goals. I also look for tax-efficiencies and, often, at high-dividend growth potential among large companies that have a tradition of solid returns.

As much as I know about global markets, I never forget that I’m in a “relationship business.” Providing you with a rewarding wealth management experience demands my genuine appreciation of who you are and why you’ve come to me.
