Biography:
Dodee Frost Crockett is a Managing Director and Wealth Management Advisor with Merrill Lynch Wealth Management in Dallas, Texas. As the founder of Crockett & Associates, a multigenerational wealth management team, Dodee brings more than three decades of experience to clients and generations of their families.
Working closely with affluent individuals, including senior corporate executives, women in transition, professional athletes, and entertainers, Dodee helps create financial strategies that reflect their personal values, company mission, and commitment to leaving a legacy for their family and community.
Many clients are referred to her following life-changing events such as divorce, the death of a spouse, or an unexpected inheritance. Others have sold a business or are considering retirement to enter a new season of life. Dodee also enjoys helping clients in areas that may have little to do with “dollars and cents” – whether it’s connecting a client with a list of assisted living facilities for an aging parent, making connections to attorneys or other professionals for guidance with wills and trusts, or simply helping a client’s daughter define her goals for an internship. Extremely giving of her vast network, she finds joy in connecting people and knowing her efforts can help change the trajectory of their lives by using their financial and social capital to make an impact in their community. Knowledgeable in many aspects of the donor experience, she delivers investment management services to help current and future stewards of wealth make their philanthropic endeavors more fulfilling, effective, and personally rewarding.
Dodee is the daughter of a CEO and started her career in a family business. She joined Merrill Lynch Wealth Management as a compliance officer and has worked in wealth management since 1990. A graduate of the Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University, Dodee received a Master of Theological Studies degree with high honors. She holds the Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy® (CAP®), Sports and Entertainment Accredited Wealth Management Advisor, SE-AWMA, and Certified Divorce Financial Analyst®, CDFA® professional designations.
In 2019, Dodee was inducted into Barron’s Hall of Fame (Published throughout 2019. Rankings based on data current list) after earning a position on its annual list of the “Top 100 Women Financial Advisors in America” for 11 consecutive years (Published annually in June. Rankings based on data as of March 31 of current year)1. She has also been named to Forbes “Best-in-State Wealth Advisors” list in 2022 and 2023 (Published annually Jan – April. Rankings based on data as of June 30 of prior year)2 and Forbes “America’s Top Women Wealth Advisors Best in State” list in 2022 and 2023 (Published annually in February. Dodee has been featured in numerous publications, including Barron’s, TIME, the Dallas Business Journal, and D Magazine. A dedicated leader and volunteer, she is a proud recipient of the 2003 Merrill Lynch Wealth Management David Brady Award, bestowed upon Merrill employees who exemplify David Brady’s selfless dedication to putting the needs of his clients, colleagues, and community first. Another one of the numerous awards presented to Dodee during her career was the 2016 Philanthropic Leadership Award from the Baylor Healthcare Foundation for promoting wealth stewardship in the community.
Dodee currently serves as vice chair of her alma mater’s executive board. She has served on the board of directors of Public Radio Exchange (PRX) since 2016, and in 2022 she joined the board of KERA/Radio & Television in Dallas. In 2019, Dodee was invited to join the Women’s Economic Leadership Council of the Texas Women’s Foundation. She is also on the advisory boards of The Dallas Foundation and the Texas Women’s Foundation.
Dodee and her husband, producer and recording artist Billy Crockett, own a studio in the Texas hill country where leading musicians have recorded albums and the local community often gathers for concerts and workshops.
