We believe it’s critical for a client's estate to be structured appropriately – to avoid, where possible, unnecessary expenses, risks, taxes and legal burdens during life or after death. At each client’s request, we can work with their legal and tax advisors to coordinate such strategies.

As a highly-accredited team, we have ten industry credentials between us – including the CPWA® designation from the Investments & Wealth Institute™ at the Booth School of Business, University of Chicago, the Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA) designation from the CFA Institute, and the Certified Investment Manager Analyst® (CIMA®) designation sponsored by the Investments & Wealth Institute™ at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. In addition, three of our members hold the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) certification from the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc.
With this rigorous training, our disciplined process allows us to fully appreciate the situations and motivations of an impressive clientele in 42 states. Among them are owners of closely held businesses, highly successful physicians, attorneys and executives, trustees (whose trusts we also help manage), and generations of clients’ families.
Given the opportunity to serve you, we’ll build a framework with a customized financial model that estimates in detail your lifetime capital needs and a test for wealth surplus. Then we’ll perform “scenario testing” to help calculate a “target return” based on your comfort with risk. From those results, we’ll craft and present an investment strategy that accounts for your goals, liquidity requirements, timeline, and risk tolerance. Ultimately, we will deliver enlightened investment, retirement, education, legacy planning and tax minimization strategies. Our mission? To help you monetize years of hard work and success.
Our investment philosophy is rare among advisors. Rather than use model portfolios managed by outside parties for all types of investors, we take a hands-on role in managing your portfolio. We also don’t believe in following computer-generated price and volume trends or relying on back-test computer algorithms. For active management, we take a bottom-up approach with a focus on fundamental analysis. We prefer investing in assets with strong balance sheets, free cash flow, and sustainable earnings power. We also favor a flexible approach to asset allocation versus a fixed target without regard to valuations.
Being asset agnostic, we utilize a blend of individual equities, pooled investments including mutual funds, along with separately managed accounts with managers that pass our rigorous due diligence and that of Merrill Lynch Wealth Management. Finally, having cash is good – allowing clients to invest in the right opportunity, not choose between them.

Through Merrill Fiduciary Plan Services1, we will accept ERISA 3(21) fiduciary responsibility for investment advice and recommendations made in the best interest of your plan, Investment Policy Statement (IPS)*, and investment menu design based on your plan goals and participant needs. We can also provide comprehensive due diligence processes to identify appropriate investment opportunities, as well as proactive delivery – online or through the team – of in-depth investment performance reporting each quarter.
In addition to coordinating with you, we will suggest enrollment meetings with your employees and one-to-one meetings with them, thereafter. Our firm’s resources and expertise are designed to help meet your employees’ financial needs in ways that make sense for your company — strategically, operationally and financially.
