Edgar’s financial career has taken him around the world – from prominent roles in London, Hong Kong, New York City, and now, back home to the Washington D.C. area. His clientele says more about Edgar than he can say about himself. Today, he serves leading hedge fund executives, institutional traders, successful business owners, non-profit foundations and others residing in more than a dozen states.

Before joining Merrill, Edgar earned his stripes at The World Bank, International Monetary Fund and International Finance Corporation – working directly with heads of state, ministers of finance and other dignitaries. Fluent in Spanish and foreign cultures, Edgar utilized his skills in handling the Latin America debt crisis, the Asian Crisis, and other periods of turmoil that called for his steady leadership and wide-ranging competencies in bonds, currencies, commodities, derivatives and overall risk mitigation. Later, he spent years in institutional investment and research roles at UBS and other firms.
Given his distinct background and experiences, Edgar has a deep understanding of global markets, geo-political and macro-economic conditions, inflation, currency issues and other key financial indicators. Serving a largely referred clientele, he has become a trusted, one-stop resource – able to “see and scrutinize” positive and negative signals before many advisors, then proactively craft forward-looking strategies meant to benefit current and future generations.

Before dollars and cents are ever discussed, Edgar helps clients explore the meaning of their wealth. Striving to talk with both spouses whenever possible, he helps them identify their wishes, values and concerns – reminding clients that financial decisions should be made thoughtfully based on multiple factors considered, rather than emotionally.

When it comes to investments, Edgar can “manage the managers” because they were his previous clients. He not only understands each manager’s funds – their track records, styles and tendencies – he can be more granular in asking technical questions that facilitate more precise learning and decision-making.

To align tax-minimization and estate planning strategies with those of clients’ other advisors, Edgar often acts as a point person – coordinating the efforts of their CPAs and attorneys. In addition, he offers his clients ready access to residential, securities-based and commercial lending through Bank of America, N.A.

Edgar holds an MBA in International Finance from American University and a place in his heart for serving others – as a youth football coach in Fairfax County, and as a longtime supporter of Covenant House in New York City and Children International. High energy inside and outside the office, Edgar can be found on squash and tennis courts in Northern Virginia, or traveling with his better half, Yulia.
