She partnered with a Private Wealth Advisor and an International Financial Advisor in Miami in order to leverage both domestic and international resources, expertise and platforms since her focus was mainly on international and non-resident clients. As a first generation immigrant, advocating for diversity and inclusion has always been her passion, so she make a priority to help the Hispanic, LGBTQ and small, women-owned, minority owned businesses in the area. Bank of America Merrill Lynch awarded her with the coveted Global Diversity and Inclusion Award in 2013 due to her outstanding track record of helping immigrants and minorities. Before rejoining the company in 2018, she spearheaded the international business in Morgan Stanley for South Eastern Virginia, where she acquired an extensive experience in both Global Wealth Management and Investment Banking products and services for corporations, governments, public institutions and individuals. She was also recruited by New York Life Insurance Company as Partner Candidate; and started her very own Virginia based, small business. Lucero was appointed in 2014 by Governor McAuliffe as a member of his Virginia Latino Advisory Board where she served as Chair of Business for the State, helping with SBA, SWAM (Small, Women Owned, Minority Owned Businesses) and trade.
Her biggest source of personal satisfaction comes from volunteering, as evidenced by her receiving the Presidential Volunteer Service Award by President Barack Obama, the Latino Top 100, and the Latino Who is Who Award five years in a row, among many other recognitions, Lucero prioritizes helping the community around her. Lucero was the Vice President of the Democratic Latino Organization of Virginia, Board Member of the Hampton Roads Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and has represented the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce 6 years in a row at the USHCC Legislative Summit, lobbying for education and immigration reform in Capitol Hill. During the years that she served the Governor of Virginia, she worked side by side with Secretary of Administration Nancy Rodrigues and Senator Tim Kaine on outreach programs for EVA and SWAM across the commonwealth and with the Hispanic Chambers of Commerce. She helped organize the first Latino Summit in Hampton Roads and has been very active in the community.
Lucero is a recreational Ironman triathlete and marathon runner, who uses most of her races to help different causes and organizations: she has helped fundraise thousands of dollars for the American Cancer Society, Mayo Clinic, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, CHKD, Komen Puget Sound, Wounded Warriors, and for causes such as supporting disabled veterans, finding a cure for cancer, AIDS, homelessness awareness and rebuilding Puerto Rico after hurricane Maria. She has also volunteered for the Salvation Army, the Boys and Girls Club of America, Junior Achievement, PETA and the SPCA. As a Latino Leader of the State she has been interviewed by different media outlets such as the Washington Posts, has endorsed candidates in the Virginia Pilot and has supported the arts, especially the Virginia Opera, theater and ballet. She enjoys traveling and learning about different cultures and has visited over 40 countries around the world.
